I went to log into my account online and was immediately greeted with a screen that wants me to update my security questions before proceeding into my personal information. I get it that NFCU wants to keep personal information from the bad guys but when your security questions keep your account holder from his own account, well, that's where we have problems. The list of questions they want me to choose from is absurd. First off, there are a couple of questions that could pertain to me but that would require me writing the answers down and keeping them with my credit cards and drivers license such as, "What was your favorite college year?" But the rest of the questions pertain to siblings and children. Both of which I do not have.

I spoke to the electronic department of Navy Fed and their only suggestion was to make up false answers and keep them on my person. That means I will be carrying around a nice getting starting guide for criminals to use my personal info in my wallet to steal my identity. Ya, NFCU, that seems like a logical solution.

I then asked NFCU to start sending me all of my bills because I will no longer have access to transfer funds and will be forced to bank through an ATM as well as phone. The year 2014 and I have to resort back to banking the old fashioned way. Perhaps this is NFCUs way of getting more customers into the branches. Either way, it is a HUGE inconvenience and slap in the face. I was told that they could waive $10/mo in ATM fees but I don't think Navy Fed understands that most of the ATMs I have seen now cost at least $4 per transaction which means I get 2.5 transactions per month which is hardly going to cover what I will have spent checking account balances and trying to bank through an ATM.

Reason of review: No Internet access to my account.

Monetary Loss: $10000.

Navy Federal Credit Union Cons: Customer service.
